  • 4 cups beef broth
  • 3 large carrots, sliced
  • 2 onions, chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons tomato paste
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 teaspoons dried thyme
  • 1 teaspoon bay leaf
  • 1 cup frozen peas
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup butter, melted
  • 1 cup milk

Instructions

  1. In a large pot, brown the beef cubes over medium heat.
  2. Add onions and garlic, sauté until softened.
  3. Stir in tomato paste, Worcestershire sauce, thyme, and bay leaf.
  4. Add beef broth, carrots, and bring to a boil.
  5. Reduce heat and let simmer for 1.5 hours.
  6. In a bowl, mix flour, baking powder, salt, butter, and milk to form a dough.
  7. Drop spoonfuls of dough into the stew and let cook for another 15-20 minutes.
  8. Add frozen peas and cook for an additional 5 minutes.

Notes

  • For a thicker stew, you can add cornstarch mixed with water.
  • Feel free to add more vegetables like potatoes or celery.
