  • 1 whole chicken
  • 3 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons sesame oil
  • 1 tablespoon Shaoxing wine
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 inch ginger, grated
  • 1 teaspoon five-spice powder
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 green onions, chopped

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a bowl, mix soy sauce, sesame oil, Shaoxing wine, garlic, ginger, five-spice powder, and black pepper to create a marinade.
  3. Rub the marinade all over the chicken, making sure to get underneath the skin.
  4. Stuff the cavity of the chicken with chopped green onions.
  5. Place the chicken in a roasting pan and roast for 1 hour or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (75°C).
  6. Let the chicken rest for 10 minutes before carving.
