1 pound ground beef
4 slices of rye bread
4 slices cheddar cheese
1 onion, sliced
2 tablespoons butter
1/4 cup mayonnaise
2 tablespoons ketchup
1 tablespoon mustard
1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
Instructions
In a large skillet, melt 1 tablespoon of butter over medium heat and add the onions. Cook until caramelized.
In a bowl, mix mayonnaise, ketchup, mustard, and Worcestershire sauce to create the secret sauce.
Form the ground beef into patties and season to taste. Cook in the skillet over medium-high heat until well browned.
Once the patties are cooked, assemble the sandwiches by spreading the secret sauce on the bread, adding a burger patty, caramelized onions, and a slice of cheddar cheese. Top with another slice of bread.
In the skillet, melt the remaining butter and grill the sandwiches on both sides until golden brown and the cheese is melted.
Notes
For an extra kick, add some hot sauce to the secret sauce mixture.
Make sure the skillet is hot enough to get a nice crust on the bread.
