French Onion Ground Beef and Rice Casserole

A delicious twist on the classic casserole with savory flavors of French onion and turkey bacon.

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 8 strips turkey bacon
  • 1 cup long-grain rice
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 1 can French onion soup
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large skillet, cook the ground beef until browned. Drain excess fat.
  3. Add chopped turkey bacon to the skillet and cook until crispy.
  4. Stir in the rice, beef broth, French onion soup, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper.
  5. Pour the mixture into a greased casserole dish.
  6. Cover with foil and bake for 30 minutes.
  7. Remove foil, sprinkle cheese on top, and bake for an additional 10-15 minutes until cheese is melted and bubbly.

Notes

  • This dish can also be topped with fried onions for added crunch.
  • Feel free to substitute ground turkey or chicken for a lighter option.
