Irresistible Braised Meatballs in Red Wine Gravy Recipe

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 cups red wine
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 1 tablespoon tomato paste
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, breadcrumbs, Parmesan, egg, garlic, oregano, salt, and pepper. Mix until well combined.
  2. Form the mixture into meatballs, about 1 inch in diameter.
  3. In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add the meatballs and brown on all sides.
  4. Remove the meatballs from the skillet and set aside.
  5. In the same skillet, add red wine, beef broth, and tomato paste. Bring to a simmer.
  6. Return the meatballs to the skillet and cover. Cook for 25-30 minutes until the meatballs are cooked through.

Notes

  • For a richer flavor, use a full-bodied red wine.
  • Serve over pasta or mashed potatoes for a complete meal.
