  • 1 medium onion, finely chopped
  • 2 carrots, finely chopped
  • 2 celery stalks, finely chopped
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 pound ground pork
  • 1 cup dry red wine
  • 28 ounces canned crushed tomatoes
  • 1 tablespoon tomato paste
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon dried basil
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 cup whole milk

Instructions

  1. Heat olive oil in a large pot over medium heat.
  2. Add onions, carrots, and celery, and sauté until softened.
  3. Stir in garlic and cook until fragrant.
  4. Add the ground beef and pork, cooking until browned.
  5. Pour in the red wine and let it simmer until reduced.
  6. Add the crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, oregano, basil, salt, and pepper. Stir to combine.
  7. Reduce the heat and let the sauce simmer for at least 1.5 hours.
  8. Stir in the milk and cook for an additional 30 minutes.
  9. Serve over your favorite pasta.
